- Develop, review, and issue protection relay setting calculations and coordination studies for overcurrent, differential, distance, earth fault, and related schemes.
- Configure and validate relay settings using platforms such as SEL AcSELerator QuickSet, GE Multilin EnerVista, ABB PCM600, and Siemens DIGSI.
- Prepare and maintain IEC 61850 CID files, GOOSE configurations, and substation automation logic.
- Review secondary injection test results, differential stability/sensitivity checks, and scheme test records.
- Review and interpret test records generated using Omicron CMC/CPC test sets and Omicron Test Universe.
- Analyse relay event and disturbance records to support fault investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Review primary testing results for transformers, circuit breakers, CT/VTs, and cables, and identify abnormalities against expected values and standards.
- Prepare protection test reports, commissioning reports, and settings verification records.
- Maintain controlled and traceable settings/CID file registers and documentation.
- Act as a remote technical escalation point for setting queries, scheme logic, Omicron configuration, and testing anomalies.
- Support and mentor protection technicians and engineers by reviewing their settings and test packs.
- Identify and report technical non-conformities to the Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably Power Systems or Protection, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in protection relay settings, coordination studies, and secondary injection testing/commissioning.
- Strong familiarity with Omicron CMC and/or CPC equipment and Omicron Test Universe.
- Good understanding of primary testing methods for transformers, circuit breakers, CT/VTs, and cables.
- Practical experience configuring protection relays on at least two major platforms, such as SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, or Siemens.
- Ability to read and produce single-line diagrams, protection/control schematics, and coordination/setting studies.
