The Housekeeper/Office Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, organization, and overall appearance of the office. The role includes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities while ensuring the safe use and storage of cleaning materials and compliance with occupational health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning Duties
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop all office floors using appropriate cleaning materials.
- Pay particular attention to corners, wall edges, and difficult-to-reach areas.
- Remove dust from windows, ceilings, furniture, and office surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect desks, tables, cabinets, shelves, chairs, couches, and other furniture.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched items, including door handles, telephones, and keyboards.
- Carefully clean computer screens, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, and other office equipment using suitable materials.
- Empty waste bins and remove paper and other office waste.
- Replace garbage bags and transfer waste to the designated disposal area.
- Clean and disinfect toilets, washbasins, mirrors, walls, and other sanitary facilities.
- Refill soap, tissue paper, paper towels, and other restroom supplies.
- Clean exterior doors and polish office signs.
- Maintain the cleanliness of both public and private office areas.
- Arrange furniture and organize office spaces when required.
- Report any cleaning, maintenance, equipment, or supply-related problems to the supervisor.
Weekly Cleaning Duties
- Clean and disinfect doors, windows, door thresholds, and interior and exterior glass.
- Conduct deep cleaning of floors, toilets, chairs, couches, and curtains.
- Use steam-cleaning equipment and suitable disinfectants when required.
Monthly Cleaning Duties
- Support or coordinate pest and rodent-control activities using approved products that are safe for people.
- Participate in scheduled deep-cleaning activities as instructed.
- Record working hours and completed services on the required attendance or timesheet.
Safety and General Responsibilities
- Use vacuum cleaners, floor mops, steam cleaners, and other cleaning equipment properly.
- Use cleaning chemicals and disinfectants safely and according to instructions.
- Store cleaning materials and chemicals securely.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and masks when required.
- Respond appropriately to urgent cleaning incidents, spills, or hygiene issues.
- Follow management instructions and complete assigned tasks within the required schedule.
- Inform the supervisor about additional supplies, repairs, or cleaning requirements.
- Cooperate with colleagues to maintain service quality and workplace cleanliness.
- Protect the confidentiality and privacy of any information observed while working inside the office.
- Perform any other cleaning-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
