The Geotechnical Engineer will review and supervise geotechnical investigations, foundation recommendations, excavation works, piling, and ground-improvement activities within a PMC or consultancy environment. The role will provide technical guidance and ensure that geotechnical works meet project specifications, design requirements, and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
Review geotechnical investigation plans, borehole records, laboratory test results, and soil reports.
Assess ground conditions and validate geotechnical findings and recommendations.
Review foundation designs and recommendations for shallow and deep foundation systems.
Review piling systems, ground-improvement methods, excavation-support systems, and dewatering proposals.
Evaluate slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, soil behaviour, and excavation risks.
Review contractors’ method statements, technical submissions, material proposals, and shop drawings.
Monitor geotechnical site activities, including soil investigations, excavation, piling, testing, and ground improvement.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, geotechnical standards, codes, and QA/QC requirements.
Coordinate with structural, civil, infrastructure, and construction teams regarding foundation and ground-related matters.
Identify geotechnical risks and provide practical technical recommendations and mitigation measures.
Review field and laboratory testing results and verify their compliance with project requirements.
Monitor contractor performance and resolve geotechnical issues arising during construction.
Participate in technical meetings, inspections, and design-review workshops.
Prepare technical reports and communicate significant geotechnical findings and risks to the client and project management.
Support the evaluation of geotechnical variations, claims, and design changes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory; specialization in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
Minimum of 10–12 years of relevant experience.
Strong experience in geotechnical investigations, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering.
Previous experience in design review and site supervision within a PMC or consultancy environment is required.
Experience reviewing geotechnical reports and foundation design recommendations.
Strong knowledge of piling, excavation-support systems, dewatering, and ground-improvement methods.
Experience overseeing contractors performing geotechnical works.
Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects or projects with complex ground conditions is required.
Specialized training in geotechnical investigations is an advantage.
Professional Engineering licence is an advantage.
QA/QC certification is preferred.
PMP certification is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of applicable geotechnical codes, standards, and testing procedures.
Excellent analytical, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
